So I lived in a house with 50 other roadies, all of them amazing just how they are. And I mean that. Notice I said I lived. The only sad part of tour launch is that I miss all the other teams!! Deep South broke down in Arizona. Sorry guys, Yuma looks like it sucks :(
So let me take you back a little. We've been having some good times all month long at that house. John Kelly was convinced his room was haunted and slept on the couch, Matt and Deric got kicked out of the Shire, other people took that as an invitation to hook up in there I guess. Then last weekend I had the most amazing weekend! IC surprised us and got Brian McLaren to be a guest speaker for just the roadies- so cool! Ok so I haven't read his books yet and I don't know exactly what he's about, but it was a treat none the less. Then the staff had another surprise for us-- Jon Chu (choreographer of Step Up 2) needed extras for a dance video and we got to go to LA and be in a freakin sick breakdance video!! It gets better. Jon Chu needed an extra for a speaking part, and I got to be that girl. I get pushed away by my face, true story. I'll post it when it comes out. But in the meantime, check out the League of Extraordinary Dancers (LXD). They're the best bboys I've ever seen. Check out my facebook for pictures.
Then there was launch week. aka hell week. SO busy. Second busiest week of my entire life. But I know it'll be worth it and I'm so stoked. The day before launch we worked from 8am til 4am. BUT we got to see the final cut of The Rescue that we're screening this tour. I'd tell you how great it is, but it was 3am when we watched it so I fell asleep, naturally. I did stay awake for the update video, which yours truly is also in. My teammate Geoff has a close-up spot in there, he's the cutie with the buzzed head if you see it. In true "the Ashleys" fashion, we decided to go to Ihop at 5am when we got out of work :) it was a great way to kick off launch.
Launch day consisted of Big Mama Bethany waking us up either her lovely singing (no sarcasm, even though it was unGodly early I recognized she's a pretty good singer!) at 7:30 am, doing some final cleaning, check-out, and heading to Mt. Soledad. It has an amazing view of the city and the coast, pictures on facebook soon. We had breakfast, heard from 3 of our roadies (amazing story and great job speaking Rima), and said our goodbyes. I miss them SO much already! Can't wait to reunite in 3 short months after the kids have been rescued :)
So where does SoCal launch to you might wonder? Great question (what's your name? The question was... oh wait, I'm not on stage yet...). We launch to Mallory's house in Huntington Beach, just an hour north of Sandy. Her mom made us chili and cornbread and lots of cookies. Thanks Mrs. Heida :) We napped, ate, napped more, ate more, ate more, and did a little work. Today, Friday the 13th, we woke up and did a whole lot of (not a whole lot of, more like some) work. I'm slow, whatever. Then we made tacos for dinner and had frozen yogurt. Now, we're rolling and counting tshirts and watching Pride and Glory.
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day! Any suggestions? If it isn't cold maybe we'll hit up the beach? No idea. I just need to finish Salesforcing (the program for work, just the word makes me shudder) and I'll be good to go. If you're in West Palm beach, I miss you! If you're my family, I miss you so much. Jen I need to come see you guys soon.
Oh and I found out today- I got accepted to Roosevelt University's grad school psych program in Chicago!!!!! So I'm going to grad school and no one can stop me :) And in CHICAGO! Mom, buy all the White Sox season tickets you want, I'll go with you to all the games :)
If you keep up with this, I'm sorry that I don't. But thank you :) Have a goodnight! Oh before I forget- check out www.invisiblechildren.com to find The Rescue screening nearest you and go see it! And bring the roadies food and tell them how great they are! Alright goodnight :)
